For the Olsvik-Dengerud family, Almendingen has become what they affectionately call "Project Madness" — an ambitious vision born from a deep love of the Helgeland coast and a desire to create something truly extraordinary. What started as an idea has evolved into a destination where world-class architecture, untouched nature, and meaningful experiences come together in one remarkable place.
At the heart of the project are two private island houses designed by internationally acclaimed architect Snorre Stinessen. Each occupies its own island, offering complete privacy while remaining closely connected to the wider Almendingen experience.
ABOUT
Nordbu
Resting gently along the shoreline, Nordbu appears almost otherworldly—like a sculptural object that has quietly landed among the rocks. Wrapped in glass and immersed in the landscape, the house offers uninterrupted panoramic views across the archipelago, the open sea, and the iconic Seven Sisters mountain range. It is a place where architecture dissolves into nature, inviting calm, reflection, and connection.
Skjåholmen
On the neighbouring island, Skjåholmen unfolds like a wave shaped by wind and sea. Its flowing form follows the contours of the landscape, creating a seamless dialogue between timber, glass, rock, and water. Every room is designed to frame the ever-changing Arctic light, offering an intimate and immersive experience of one of Norway's most spectacular coastal landscapes.

While each lodge is a destination in its own right, both are part of the larger Almendingen vision. Just a short boat ride away, the Olsvik-Dengeruds are planning to rise the social heart of Almendingen – farmhouse and a lodge with rooms to rent – where guests can gather for activities, exceptional dining, curated adventures, and authentic encounters with the surrounding islands, local culture, and nature.
