SKJÅHOLMEN
(ALMENDINGEN · NORWAY · 2026)
(HOUSE NO. 1 FOR SALE)

The boundary between inside and outside dissolves; nature lives in every room. With glass from floor to roof, the outdoors becomes part of the interior.

Welcome to Skjåholmen
Skjåholmen is a sculptural wave of glass
and timber, that seems to rise from the
sea itself — a dialogue between light,
transparency, and motion.
Out on the edge of the archipelago, where three small islands almost touch at low tide, lies the plot at 28/10 — a quiet outpost shaped by wind, weather, and centuries of coastal life. Here, bedrock breaks through the heather, the sea moves in slow rhythms, and the horizon wraps around you like an open invitation.

POLAR LIFE HAUS

The house is part of a larger vision unfolding across these islands: a collection of refined retreats and small-scale cultivation, designed for travellers who seek the rare and the real. High-end, yes — but rooted in the landscape, in local knowledge, and in the promise of tailored experiences crafted together with the people who live here.
From a distance, the building barely reveals itself. Two long rooflines rise gently from the terrain, echoing the island’s own contours as they lift toward the northeast. Beneath them, a cluster of rooms forms a sheltered courtyard — a modern tun — where indoor and outdoor life blend seamlessly. Glass, stone, and timber frame moments rather than walls, creating places to linger while leaving the surrounding nature untouched. The architecture doesn’t try to disappear. Instead, it listens. It mirrors the weight and rhythm of the landscape, offering a presence that feels both deliberate and deeply respectful. Wildlife passes quietly, seemingly unbothered by people who remain within the soft boundaries of roof and glass. The design defines where life unfolds, so the rest of the island can remain wild.
From the main sea route, the house is almost invisible — a low, sculpted form dressed in materials that echo the stone slopes of Skjåholmen. From within, however, the world opens: the shifting sea, the silent islets, the endless northern sky. This is not just a building. It is a way of arriving — slowly, gently — into a landscape that has always been here, waiting for those who choose to listen.
